About East Pye Solar

Beautiful South Norfolk farmland at risk

Understanding the proposed solar development and its impact on our rural South Norfolk communities.

Who We Are

This website has been established by local residents to inform the community and coordinate responses regarding the East Pye Solar proposal by Island Green Power. We are neighbors, farmers, and families concerned about the future of our rural landscape.

NOT an anti-solar campaign. We support renewable energy sited responsibly—on brownfield sites, industrial rooftops, and near infrastructure—not on productive farmland surrounding historic villages.

The Land in Question

The land currently being considered for East Pye Solar consists of multiple sites designated as Best and Most Versatile (BMV) agricultural land. This is productive soil essential for food security.

The project connects via a new Battery Storage Site to the national grid at Great Moulton, stretching across an unspoiled area of South Norfolk countryside.

Potential Future Expansion

Once the cabling infrastructure is installed, there is a significant risk that solar fields could extend to further villages along the route, fundamentally industrializing the character of the entire region.
